Hi,
this happens with KDE Plasma 5.19.5 on KDE neon as well as with Arch and Debian (so all I have tested it on) : - I click the connections icon in the panel - I choose a wireless network and start typing the passphrase - The list gets re-sorted, probably beause of varying signal strengths - PROBLEM: A different network appears as selected, and I'm automatically typing the passphrase for this new network So it appears that the selected network gets determined by index, not by name. This is not just annoying but seems like a severe security issue to me, because it can very easily be overseen that you're typing the passphrase for a different network now - the input you've already made even stays in place. Is this a known bug? It seems to me that many people should have encountered this and if some wireless networks are available, it's basically impossible to type the passphrase quickly enough. But I haven't found any posts about it. I'd guess that a solid fix would be to determine the the selected network using something that's consistent while re-sorting, while a quick fix could be to disable re-sorting while a network is selected (or especially while a passphrase is being typed in). Best regards, Jo |

I've also experienced this several times on the newest KDE Neon.

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |
