So i installed an application that creates a .desktop file containing a direct link to a .svg file for its icon.
The icon does not show up however in the start menu and the desktop. So my question is does Plasma 5.18.4 support svg Icons and this is a bug or does it simply not support it? |

Hi,
I am using some svg icons that do show up. Valid icon types are png, xpm and svg, so yes, it is supported. Which application do you talk about? Does the plasma-user have permissions to access this file? Is it a valid svg? (svg is just an xml file, so you can check the header with e.g.`head -n2 file.svg`). |

Hm ... It works on a Manjaro install, but not on Ubuntu.
Maybe it was fixed between 5.18.4 and 5.20.2. |

So I tried again with a fresh Kubuntu 20.04.1 (I think it uses plasmashell v5.18.4? sry forgot to look it up before I updated)
The Icon shows up on the desktop but not on the start menu. It also doesn't show up in dolphin 19.12.3. When I update using apt, I get plasmashell v5.18.5, but the issue is still not fixed. On Manjaro which currently uses plasmashell v5.20.2 the issue seems to be fixed. The application is irrelevant it happens on any .desktop file I create in .local/share/application or /usr/local/share/application with Icon=<path>.svg as the icon definition. |
