Strange problem at startup

Sun Apr 11, 2021 8:45 am
Hello,

A couple of months ago I upgraded from Kubuntu 19.10 to Kubuntu 20.04. After the upgrade, sometimes I'm experiencing a very weird bug at start up, in which my desktop configuration seems to be lost.

This is the screenshot showing the problem.

By default, I'm using Latte dock with a top and bottom panel. When this issue present itself, the following happens:

  • A new default Plasma panel shows in the bottom of the screen, just behind Latte dock, which I have to manually remove.
  • No more pictures in my desktop. I have to open "Configure Desktop" and set it up again.
  • Notifications show up at random spots in the screen. I have to reboot the system to fix this.

Most of the time my system boot up just fine, but sometime this annoying problem happens. How can I try to debug what's wrong?

Operating System: Kubuntu 20.04
KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.68.0
Qt Version: 5.12.8
Kernel Version: 5.4.0-70-generic
OS Type: 64-bit
