Hi,
I am new to plasma and although the customization options are great, i would like to be able to code custom functions and GUI elements. I have had a look around for a couple of hours and have come across things like KDE frameworks and kirigami and a couple other things. I am still very lost though. I would like to be able to build upon the existing plasma DE and be able to code features in plasma for myself. E.G. have a trail behind the mouse when it moves, create an animation for when a window is opened etc. If anyone could help me find a starting point as to where i would have to go for tutorials/any other languages i might need to learn, or if this is even possible, that would help a lot. I am familiar with python/Java/c++ and i am using arch. Thanks in advance , D |

I have no idea of the specifics (not a programmer at all), but in the case of the two Kwin desktop effects you mention, these both already exist.
Here is where you can view the sources for the stock effects: https://invent.kde.org/plasma/kwin/-/tr ... rc/effects https://techbase.kde.org/Welcome_to_KDE_TechBase should be a good starting point for general info

Hi!
To manipulate windows you should have a look at the KWin Scripting Tutorial and Plasma Scripting. For custom plasmoids you can follow the Plasma Widget Tutorial Have fun |
