how do i set the launcher menu to only use one keyboard key, the Windows key? when i try changing the keyboard shortcut it says meta +i don't ant the plus part, i don't want meta +a or whatever, just the simple windows key "meta".

I have garuda linux and it had an absolutely horrible default setup with latte etc. so i had to remove everything and put back the regular kde plasma dock or whatever it's called and thus the typical windows key to launch the launcher like in manjaro or fedora kde wasn't set here.

Hi,

If you use Plasma >5.8 try setting the shortcut to Alt+F1, then pressing the meta key by itself should also toggle the application launcher.

If that doesn't work you can try using this utility https://github.com/hanschen/ksuperkey, instructions are on the linked page.

Also, make sure you do not have the following lines in your ~/.config/kwinrc file
Code: Select all
[ModifierOnlyShortcuts]
Meta=

as this disables the default Plasma mapping of Meta key to Alt+F1.

Best regards.

I have the same problem. I tried to assign a new shortcut key combination but it didn't work. Then, I tried to remove this file:
Code: Select all
~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc

and... it worked. I could access the Application Launcher (Menu) again by using the Window (Meta) key.

It is not possible to change the key combination to invoke Windows, because the Windows key binds your computer to Microsoft and only one key can do this. If your Windows key does not work, you need to buy a licensed operating system and upgrade it. Buying a licensed version of Windows will give you access to all Microsoft products. You will also receive all updates in a timely manner, which is a great advantage, since security is improved and the operating system is improved in each update.

???? ??? He's talking 'bout launching the menu, not windows. Of course you can set it to super. If it's set to alt+F1, meta should work.https://imgur.com/a/3UizKlc

I think reading the instructions is a waste of time since there is nothing useful, except for the basics explained in over ten pages. If you know how to use the windows key in general, there is no sense to spend time reading all the instructions. However, some weeks ago, while I was searching for cheapest windows 10 key I found this nice article. I think people that write reviews like these ones are the most innocent ones because they have no interest in money, views, etc. I know it may not cover everything you need, but you can continue the chat there.

No responds. The solution was already given. Set the application launcher to alt+F1. In doing so, pressing meta does the same. If you can't set it to alt+F1, it means it is set to something else and you need to change that. Normally, if you DO wanna set it to alt+F1 and the combo is already assigned to something else, the system settings should show you to what is is set and if you want to override it. If you press alt+F1, you should now what it does.
