Hi all,
I am not 100% sure if this is a plasma-related problem or kUbuntu Problem started after upgrading from 20.04LTS to 22.04LTS. 20.04 had no issues. kUbuntu Plasma 5.24.6 KDE Framework 5.92.0 Keyboard stops working in some apps after few hours of machine boot. Random apps are affected. So far I saw it Dolphin and Kconsole. Also in KDE interface. This one happens always and does so after few hours of machine turned on. Click on "start" button and one can not type in the search box. Here is an interesting observation -- if I click on "start" and start typing really quickly, I usually have a chance to enter a single character before keyboard input is no longer accepted. Reboot fixes the problem. I did Google search -- few people experienced similar, but no solution. In one place user complained about this happening to a snapd packages (Firefox in particular). in my case, i am not using snapd version of FF and I did not see the problem with FF. May be it is snapd related. In any case, I did not find a solution and not even sure how to troubleshoot this behavior. Any pointers, suggestion? Happy to do troubleshooting, but need some guidance. Thanks, Rudolf |

Same issue here
very often it happens in the menu search box (i can type one character, currently not even that) , in Dolphin (can't rename a file at all). It's working again after closing and reopening Dolphin. So it seems to have something to do with how long an application runs (maybe also sleep mode?).
current KDE Neon

Hi Rudolf,
Sorry to hear about the keyboard issue you're experiencing. It sounds frustrating, especially since it started after upgrading your kUbuntu to 22.04LTS. Have you tried checking if the issue persists with a different keyboard or on a different machine? The issue might be related to the software or drivers, rather than the keyboard itself. Check all your drivers are up-to-date. You can also try using an ir keybord, like the one available on emfclothing. |
