improve discover search

Sun Nov 06, 2022 1:48 pm
Hi

each time I tried (for several years, I must say), I have been puzzled by the Discover 'search engine'. I almost never find what I am looking for. A recent example: I searched for "docker",
and the results are, by order of appearance:
Whaler
RubyMine
CairoDock
Latte
etc.
...
and the "docker" package itself appear only at position 20, after packages that are mostly irrelevant.

Are there discussions on how to improve this?

Sort of, it is a bug and sadly also depends a lot on the various sources used to search in (distribution repositories, flatpack, snap, appstream)

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...
