I'm trying to install Plasma alongside Cinnamon and I've used
Code: Select all
sudo apt install kde-plasma-desktop
but it installed 5.24. The only guides I can find online either don't include 5.26 or are for Kubuntu. Is their a way I can upgrade or replace my 5.24 with 5.26?

You may need to add the Kubuntu Backports PPA. So, for example, I see plasma-desktop 5.26.4 available there for KK: https://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-ppa/+arc ... &start=300

I was a little lacking in information in my last post. I've already tried adding the Kubuntu backports and it did not work. I am on latest version of Linux Mint. I've also discovered that Kubuntu is based on Ubuntu 22.10, but Linux Mint is 22.04. Could this be what's affecting it?

Yes. The version you'll get is the version the...core so to speak is. In order to get plasma 5.25...I don't think it would work in this case. I could be wrong but, even with backports enabled, it would require a more recent core.

This realm's name is Maya. And she speaks Hertz. But Ahamkara makes a fuzz about it.

The PPA itself says why there is no 5.26

https://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-ppa/+arc ... /backports

This PPA will NOT currently receive Plasma 5.26 for Jammy 22.04, as this would break subsequent upgrades to Kinetic 22.10.
