Is there a way to increase the number of characters for my Desktop file & folder names? The default number of characters is too short & makes organizing my work more difficult. I'm not talking about the names as they show up in Dolphin but on the Desktop itself.

You can set that to wide and define the number of lines. Rightclick the desktop, configure,icons.
