First, Are workspaces/virtual desktops/activities all referring to the same thing?

What I'm trying to find out is, can I have a second desktop/workspace with different settings for a program that is running in the background? I am using a Huion graphics tablet monitor. It has programmable keys running down its side. I have two setups for these keys. One for Krita and one for Blender. Unfortunately the tablet settings program, unlike its counterpart for Windows, cant switch the configuration automatically per program you have up. So, Can I have one desktop/workspace with this program loaded with Kritas config and then switch over to another desktop/workspace with that same program running but with Blenders config?
