What ever happened to git-next.kde.org?

I've been digging into some ancient bugs in Telepathy recently, and have found references to some mythical Gitlab instance on git-next.kde.org. All indicators I've found seem to have dated it between late 2014 and early 2015, but I have found no resolution to that project.

As someone trying to get more into KDE development, the mix of reviewboard / bugs.kde.org / projects.kde.org is kind of a... giant disaster, from someone who has spent the last couple years contributing predominantly to github / gitlab projects. I imagine I'm not the only potential dev who has repeatedly tried getting into the KDE development process only to be driven insane by the disparate parts of the ecosystem hosted here.

So I'm just curious of whatever happened to migration efforts to a gitlab instance, or honestly, pretty much anything else. I think I saw mention of Phabricator on a mailing list somewhere as well. With the announcement of the Neon project and it being a supposed preview of a revamped kde.org, I'm wondering if anyone is also thinking about trying to fix the backend development workflow to be a little less painful for more novice contributors.

This isn't a problem unique to KDE - freedesktop projects are also a nightmare to work with for similar reasons - but it looked like progress was being made which then just stopped, and I lost the trail on information on what happened from there, since git-next.kde.org is gone now.

GitLab was evaluated and the result was that it is completely unsuitable for KDE as a whole, due to technical reasons, due to the fact that important features are for the Enterprise Edition only (and KDE will not settle for a non FOSS solution) and because some design decisions of GitLab (for example email notifications) make it hard to integrate in the exisisting infrastructure.

Someone on the reddit thread said that phabricator was being considered now. Is there anywhere to follow the status of that project?

Edit: https://phabricator.kde.org/
