I went to the "Get Involved" page here:

It suggests joining the Matrix chat. I click through the link (https://webchat.kde.org/#/room/#kde-welcome:kde.org) and attempt to sign up, and I get:

"Your email domain is not authorized to register on this server"

I tried several different email domains, two different browsers, and the web as well as desktop Element client. I tried a Gmail account, as well as an account for a web domain that I own that is hosted through Fastmail (because I'm not good enough to administer my own Mx server).

I went to the liberachat IRC room, and apparently other people are also seeing this same behavior.

Can someone please tell me how to sign up for an account on the KDE Matrix server? Is there some other requirement that isn't listed on the "Get Involved" page?
I wanted to join the bug hunt group to try to improve some FOSS software, and learn QT in the process.

Public registration is currently closed due to spam problems. We will be integrating signup with my.kde.org in the future

In the meantime you can still join the :kde.org rooms with an account from any other matrix homeserver due to the federated nature of matrix
