I picked up a used Nexus 5 for playing with. I've been reading installation instructions for both Ubuntu Touch and KDE Plasma Mobile. I'd like to try various images on my Nexus. Has anyone installed multirom support and gotten cyanogenmod, ubuntu touch and kde plasma mobile running? Any hints or tips for installation so I don't overwrite each OS?
Also, I haven't swapped the SIM from my daily phone into the Nexus (or purchased a new SIM). I know I need the SIM card to be able to place and receive calls. But can I go ahead with playing with OSes before swapping in a SIM? I should be able to install multirom, an OS (or two or three) and play with various UIs first, right? |

I use multirom on a Nexus 7. It's pretty straight forward. Yes I have cyanogenmod and ubuntu touch next to each other. Not sure any specific tips are required. I installed CyanogenMod, then Multirom and from there Ubuntu Touch. Just follow the instructions https://github.com/Tasssadar/multirom/wiki . Feel free to ask. And do report back if you get plasma mobile running!
Correct. You do not need a SIM for installing and using any mobile OS or app, incl multirom, plasma mobile, etc. |
