As Canonical abandons it's Ubuntu Touch, Mir, Unity and convergence, the community that already has Ubuntu Touch devices would really welcome KDE plasma images for theiir previously UT powered targets, such as: BQ Aquaris, Meizu MX4 and MX5 pro, and few other ones.

All of us who invested time in now deprecated Ubuntu Touch are now feeling a void that KDE plasma could fill up, and I think it is well worth the shot, just please release image for the devices we already have and which now are heading to a dead-end.

Sincerely,
Kris

Do you mind adding links to the information your comment is based on? I have a hard time believing that Canonical would abandon Mir or Unity just because they decided that Ubuntu Touch may be a failed venture that is no longer worth pursuing.

That said, I think providing full support for KDE Plasma on UT devices is a great idea.

Yeah, I should have put a little faith in your statement and looked myself. I just found it hard to believe they would actually pull the cord like that, and wondered if someone hadn't paid attention to the date of the announcement being the 1st (which it wasn't, it was a couple of days after; which is wise as it sure would have made quite the April Fools joke had it not been reality).

I did see that some of the Unity 8 developers have forked Unity 8 onto github and renamed it to yunit. So I'd expect that Ubuntu Touch users will probably end up switching to that.

Of course, as I said, I still think providing support for Plasma on UT devices is a great idea.
