Mobile on desktop?

Sun Nov 24, 2019 2:19 am
Hey guys, I just ordered a Surface 3 and want to install a touch first Linux desktop when I get it. I was wondering if there is some way to install Plasma Mobile on a standard Ubuntu installation like a regular desktop environment? I know Unity 8 is trying to something similar, but I've never even been able to log in on that!

I think Plasma mobile has a ton of promise and would love to help in any way I can! I am terrible with coding but I want to help, possibly with testing.

Hey, great to hear that you'd like to try out Plasma Mobile. If you go to https://www.plasma-mobile.org/get/ and scroll down to the bottom of the page, you should see an image that is compiled for amd64 and should theoretically work with your Surface 3. You can then install this distribution alongside Ubuntu or whatever other operating system you might be using. If you do have any questions, it could also be helpful to join the IRC/Matrix project channel (https://matrix.to/#/#plasmamobile:matrix.org) - I'm sure they'll be happy to help you further.
