Hi all. I'm trying to create a new "Hello World" plasmoid that I'll document on TechBase for others. I'm learning as I go, since there aren't many existing tutorials that are current. However, my plasmoid won't stick itself to my desktop. It runs fine in plasmoidviewer. It "compiles" correctly with kpackagetool5 and shows up in the available widgets panel. But I can't drag it to my desktop. Will someone experienced that a look at my code and see what I've got mis-configured? I think it's something in the metadata.desktop or Cmake file. But I'm not sure. These things aren't well-documented.

Have a look here and point out anything obvious, please: https://github.com/bundito/hellomoid

Thanks!

I found my own answer. I believe it's an entry in metadata.desktop that was causing me grief. it's
Code: Select all
X-KDE-Library
. I took that line out, rebuilt the plasmoid with
Code: Select all
kpackagetool5
and my plasmoid happily placed itself on my desktop. I'm not (yet) sure what purpose this line serves, but without it, all is good again.

If you want to see the `diff` output, head for my question (and answer) at Stack Overflow.
