invent.kde.org require a 2FA , and I do not wish to give my phone number to gitlab.org (or any other site) , and I don't see a reason to tie my phone to KDE or gitlab.
How can I avoid the 2FA demand for kde.org , or use my laptop (that has KDE) to continue contributing ? |

Again, we do NOT use the Gitlab website, we run our own Gitlab software instance.
The whole point of the 2FA is to make you able to still use your invent.kde.org login even if you loose your laptop. And you do NOT use a phone number, you install an application on your phone or whatever other device you choose to use, that will generate a code you then use to log in. Please read the page at https://invent.kde.org/-/profile/two_factor_auth completely, there is also a list of example apps in a link there.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Thank you , as I said I don't wish to run anything additional on my phone or to tie devices to KDE just ot be able to contibute to kde. The link you gave me give me an only another link to https://invent.kde.org/help/user/profil ... e-password which give me : * Use cloud options like Micrsodt , Google or Fortinet to auth my self into the system. * Buy a yubikee. * Develop some software myself to be able to use webauthn . Perhaps there is something that I'm missing ? maybe there is some kind of a package or a tool that I could be using to be able to run from my laptop and continue to contribute ? maybe I'm looking on the wrong link on that page you linked to me ? |
