Hi all,
I'm new to KDE Neon but have been on various other distros for years. I love how everything just seems to work out of the box for me with KDE... except for one thing. I use Clementine and it keeps missing some tracks because it is missing a plug-in. I have gone to the software center and downloaded every GStreamer plugin there but Clementine still misses tracks. Any help would be gratefully received. Thanks |

Anything if you launch Clementine from the terminal? As a sidenote, Strawberry player has the same layout with additional functionality.

Thanks dzon,
I tried strawberry and it came up with this error: Your GStreamer installation is missing a plug-in. ../gst/playback/gsturidecodebin.c(1026): no_more_pads_full (): /GstPlayBin:pipeline-1-pipeline/GstURIDecodeBin:uridecodebin0: no suitable plugins found: ../gst/playback/gstdecodebin2.c(4719): gst_decode_bin_expose (): /GstPlayBin:pipeline-1-pipeline/GstURIDecodeBin:uridecodebin0/GstDecodeBin:decodebin2: no suitable plugins found: Missing decoder: Windows Media Audio 8 (audio/x-wma, wmaversion=(int)2, bitrate=(int)352504, depth=(int)16, rate=(int)44100, channels=(int)2, block_align=(int)11889, codec_data=(buffer)008800000f00c5b90000) Sorry, I'm not a terminal user so am not sure how to launch Clemetine from there. |

Just one more thing... i think it's linked to WMA files. MP3 seem to play ok.

To launch from terminal just type clementine. If it's a flatpak, type flatpak run org.clementine_player.Clementine

thanks. I ran via terminal (it was flatpack) and the same. It's not playing WMA files.

Well, tried to install strawberry from repos, failed. That's a first one. Installed the flatpak, gave me that error. Then I tried a wma file with: audacious, parole, vlc, smplayer, mpv, haruna and deadbeef. No problem, all played. So, defenitely a clem problem. https://imgur.com/a/zNBS9TG
I'd just wait for an update and use something else for the time being.

Thanks, I really appreciate your speedy replies
I also got a WMA to work in an alternative player. But, I have been using Clementine for years on MX Linux without any issues so I know it's not Cleminine at fault. Arghh I really don't want to search for another player as Clem gives me the layout that I love.. sigh... |

I'm afraid you have no choice as long as it's not fixed. I always keep an alternative, both vid as audio, at hand. For my needs, as far as audio goes, audacious and deadbeef. I've tried tons and audacious seems like the best comprimise to me. In my 17 years-ish of linux, vlc is probably the most crashed mainstream player I know. Such a pitty kaffeine was abandoned. If someone should pick it up, ditch the tv part and add, maybe, an equalizer etc...it could well be a very very good allrounder.
