Disable global shortcuts from c++

Tue Jun 05, 2012 7:09 pm
Hi,
I am developer of a game engine and we got serious problems with KDE's default global shortcuts, which are conflicting with our own internal ones. Esp. ones related to alt, ctrl & shift.
So my question: is there a way the program itself can disable such global shortcuts? If possible w/o linking QT or similar.

thx

KWin has a method which allows a application to be exempted from global shortcuts.
I would recommend checking it's sources to see how it does this.

Only thing I could find was rules.cpp/h, what seems to be the internal API of the "Special Window Settings" GUI.
But nothing in there gives me a hint on an external API exposed to the client applications.

I would suggest asking for further information on the kde-devel@kde.org mailing list.
The global shortcuts system can be disabled by KWin, so it must be able to be disabled in general.
