Using KDM disables Intel Power Boost?

Hello all,

I have KDE 4.84 installed in Gentoo Linux, and the system boots to the KDM login screen. If at this point I press ctl + alt + f1, log into a terminal, then type i7z as root, I can verify Turbo boost is working. However, if I log into KDE through KDM, then try i7z from a konsole, turbo boost is disabled. Also if I don't boot to KDM but to a normal console, then type startkde and from a konsole use i7v, turbo boost still works. It's only when I login via KDM that turbo boost stops.

It seems strange that the login manager would cause this, but maybe its due to the restart/shutdown functionality KDM has? Thanks for any help!

KDM itself should not be doing anything in particular to do this. As this technology is fairly new, I suspect some environmental condition it creates (like marking it as a full KDE session, causing the power manager to be loaded), or the difference in environmental conditions (such as PATH, etc) may be causing this.

Another possible cause is some of the X11 specific scripts under /etc/X11 (usually anyway). Can you check this first please?

Did you end up finding the cause of this?
