Hi Guys,

As the title says, I want to take part in GSoC, but unfortunately I only have a tiny amount of exposure to C++. As a student finishing his first year, I've only been exposed to Java. As a result, I haven't entered, thinking that it would be better to leave it to next year.

But, I've just realised that there is something that I might be able to do with my Java programming knowledge:

I currently have a Kubuntu machine setup as a home-server that is connected to the TV so that it doubles as a Media-Center. Basically, what I would like to do, is to program an Android app, that can act as a KDE-Remote. Basically, all I'm envisioning, is being able to switch between a handful of activities by using my Android device, and then to open any of the programs or files associated with that activity.

As suggested, I wanted to contact the relevant project to discuss the idea. However, as it's technically an Android app, I'm not really sure who I should be contacting. So, I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. My first guest would be the Plasma guys, but I'm not really sure who in the team I should contact, or where I can find their email address(es).

I would recommend asking on the general KDE development mailing list regarding this: kde-devel@kde.org.
