Hello new to the forum. I need to add custom application launchers to the panel based on the command line. It tried adding to ~/.kde/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc but i could not get the launcher to stay on the panel. so i think i am missing something.


I also need to be able to add custom application launchers to the desktop right click menu. similiar to the kde_custom_menus in kde3.

By application launcher, are you referring to icons such as those available in the application menu?
If so, you might want to look into an the scripting facilities of Plasma Desktop - more details on this can be found on KDE Techbase.

For the right click menu, can you please clarify what you are trying to achieve exactly?
