I am totally new and a novice to KDE. I am planning to use apis provided by KImgIO for extracting layers from a .psd file.
Does this KImgIO module support extracting layers from a PSD file ? I see it does have function that reads only the basic data from the header of a PSD file.

I downloaded -- kimageformats-5.1.0 from http://download.kde.org/stable/frameworks/5.1.0/
From the source code given here, it appears that extracting layers is not supported.
Any help would be appreciated.

While i'm not familiar with the PSD file format, I suspect it only reads the final image, rather than allowing individual layers to be read out separately.
Krita does have some support for reading PSD files, so you may wish to take a look into it's codebase instead.
