Hi all,
I want to compile and install the plasma-applet NetNewsTicker which was originally created for KDE4
I still can compile it without any errors and it is installed to /usr/share/kde4/services
But when i try to add it the the desktop i can't see it in the list.
Is there something that has changed with KDE5. And what do i need to change to make it working on KDE5?
Many thanks in advance for any help.
Greetings, -chris-

kde4 plasmoids don't work in kde5, they must be changed. As far as I know, there isn't no automatic converter from kde4 to kde5, the developer has to do it.

Your compilation is working because your plasmoid is using kde4 libraries and probably you have kde4 libraries in your system, in addition to kde5 libraries. So you get a correct kde4 binary, and it is installed correctly in kde4 directories. But it can't be used in kde5 desktop. That's why you can't see the plasmoid from kde5.

Thanks for the info.
Do you know where I could find some helpful resources what I have to change for KDE5?

Bump

Chris is the developer. I would really like this applet to be working before I upgrade to KDE5. I'm holding off until it does work, tbh.
