I want to create a program similar to listary, but I'm stuck, I'm not even sure it can be done, that's why I'm here.
Listary has an option to open a navigation menu when double clicking an empty space on the desktop or on file explorer. Clicking an item in the menu opens file explorer at the path associated with the menu item. Would that be possible to do under linux, more precisely in Plasma? If it is possible I imagine I need to identify if the active window is either the desktop or dolphin and listen for double clicks on an empty space. If all this is possible can someone point me to some guides/documentation on how to identify the active window and how to listen for mouse events? |

doesn't KRunner (alt-f2) do most of this stuff already?
I use it to launch applications, open directories, go to websites, open bookmarks etc.. .b |

Many times I'm using only the mouse, so I prefer not having to type. Also having the menu open where my mouse is is very convenient too. |

oh I see. clicking opens a menu where you can quickly browse filesystem... well, there are two possibilities here. you can add stuff to your Dolphin context menu... http://askubuntu.com/questions/719262/h ... n-in-kde-5 or if you want desktopmenu then maybe this: https://store.kde.org/p/998904/ there was also a widget (plasmoid) to quickly browse through your filesystem so you could just add that to your taskbar... but can't remember the name right now. .b |

I'm not looking for an application, I can build one myself, what I don't know is how to open it on double click on an empty space.
But I think I'll just configure one of my mouse buttons to open it somehow. |
