I'm with Whonix (tor/anonymity/privacy distro using kde), and I've had a hell of a time trying to tweak/configure kde

I have a lot of snippets for kde configuration (applied to new user accounts*) added via $XDG_CONFIG_DIRS, but I'm unsure how to debug/display current settings. I assume it depends on what is being configured. Maybe there's a merged file, maybe it only exists in memory, maybe it can be displayed (like with `apt-config dump`), maybe not. For example, If I've added settings to kdedrc (https://github.com/Whonix/kde-lowfat/bl ... fat/kdedrc) how do I confirm they're applied?

Here's a selection of XDG_CONFIG_DIR snippets I use: https://github.com/Whonix/kde-lowfat/tr ... kde-lowfat
Some of them are easy to confirm, some are confusing.

Another example:
To enable folderview for all users, Containment=org.kde.plasma.folder needs to be set under [Desktop] in the file /usr/share/plasma/shells/org.kde.plasma.desktop/contents/defaults

Yet, how can this setting be adjusted via $XDG_CONFIG_DIRS ? What would the file be called? Is there another way I can change this setting programmatically?

Is there a definitive list of all the config files that can be changed via XDG_CONFIG_DIRS, along with all possible settings? That doesn't include going through source code? (https://marc.info/?l=kde&m=136497689725852&w=2)
