I am a contributor to Gajim a Messaging Client.
Some users complained that Gajim does not show up as a selectable application in the System Notification Settings

What is neccessary so this works?
I saw some other Applications provide appname.notifyrc file.
We use Gnomes Gio.Notification API to send notifications, if this is important somehow
