Hello. I've recently fell in love with KDE and want to start developing some widgets to begin with while I hone my skills. I read there was some sort of fallout regarding KDE and QT company? As a newcomer, and fledgling developer - Is there anything in this regard I need to know about?
Thanks for the time, |

There is nothing to worry about, KDE developers will continue to use Qt. Porting all of our software to any other toolkit would need 20+ years. We have the Free Qt foundation, that guarantees that Qt will always be freely available, even if the Qt company stops supporting it.
What you heard might be the LTS releases. Those are for companies that need to produce hardware, and cannot change Qt versions, but need to stick to an old version. KDE developers won't have this issues, we already started planning the Qt 6 port. |
