I use Kate ( Text editor ) along with Konsole to develop my applications. Most distributions provide a package of CMake, otherwise it can be downloaded from Kitware, who make CMake.
You need "Development" packages installed in order to compile applications. Usually qt4 and the development packages of the KDE applications / modules you wish to develop for are needed. Development packages are usually postfixed with "-devel"

Well Gentoo is fully source based. And since Sabayon is based on Gentoo, he should have all the necessary packages to install KDevelop. KDevelop 3.5.4 doesn't depend on KDE4. Well you should don't post the build.log so we could know why it fails. And you should use KDevelop4 instead of KDevelop3. KDevelop3 has a bad way of dealing with code completion. And KDevelop4 has been redesigned from scratch. But I can't really help you if you don't post more information.

I recommend QT Creator ( http://www.qtsoftware.com/developer/qt-creator ) for KDE apps.
Attitude before intelligence.

you do emerge -av kdevelop and it will list all the dependencies KDevelop has and you type yes and it will install them I thought QtCreator didn't support CMake yet? |
