I am working on a panel containment based on the existing one. Currently, the thickness of the panel (height in horizontal form factor, width in vertical form factor) is limited to 1/3 the size of the screen. Can anyone tell me how this is controlled and how I can change it, if that is even possible?

So is this not possible? It has to be set somewhere.

It is probably controlled by Plasma itself, which likely sets "restraints" or "constraints" on how large a panel can be.

There isn't any way to override it? The panel is essentially useless unless I am able to extend it across at least 2/3 of the screen.

There is likely no way to override it, since Plasma adds a "struct" that informs window managers not to cover this area.
