hi guys,
can any of you tell me why newline="true" isn't working in the kword.rc xml gui file. I'm using kword as a kpart in my application and I wanted to change the size of the icons, the text being printed under the icon and the toolbar to be started on a new row. The first two went ok, but the last one does not work? According to the manual(kde3) it should work though. Is this a bug?

Which version of KWord are you working with? Note that only KWord 1.x was written for KDE 3, which is mostly unsupported.
If you are using KWord 2.x however, that is a KDE 4 application, thus the tips provided in the KDE 3 manual may no longer work.

I'm using koffice 2.1 (kword 2.1.1) and as I can see it the newline works for myappui.rc but when I try it with the kword.rc it's not. The iconSize and iconText work in the kword.rc though. I just want some of the kword toolbars to start on a new row, while myapp toolbars start on the top.

This looks like a bug in kword though, can anyone confirm whether he/she can get the charformat_toolbar or the paragraph_toolbar to appear on a newline? my opinion is that it won't work on my version.

THIS IS NO BUG !! I found out how it goes, you can indeed change the layout of the toolbar of your kpart inside your application. The newline="true" does work and will show the toolbar on a newline, all the subsequent toolbar will also be put on this newline. Just don't use the position="top" with the newline directive in the toolbar tag. You can put the position="top" directive in all the other subsequent toolbar tags, but that won't put these toolbars on top. In order to do that you'll have to define these toolbars before the "newline" toolbar.
