I am trying to build KDE and some dependencies from Debian source. When I try to build qt4-x11-4.5.3 it fails somewhere around 3 hours in with this message:



It appears that I am running out of memory. I have 1 GB and about 0.4 GB of swap. Exactly how much memory do I need to build these packages?

Hmm... that should be more than sufficient, although note that the QtWebKit linking is very memory hungry, so if you had other tasks running simultaneously, such as other compile jobs, then it could very well have encountered an OOM situation.

Check to make sure nothing is gobbling memory up, and only run the Qt compile at this time. It only takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes on my system maximum to compile...
