nowplaying DataEngine newb problem

Thu Feb 18, 2010 9:26 pm
Well, I was writing an plasmoid for KDE 4.4.0 in python and it kept crashing with this error message:

Code: Select all
plasmoidviewer(6363)/plasma NowPlayingEngine::addPlayer: Adding player "org.mpris.amarok"
KCrash: Application 'plasmoidviewer' crashing...
sock_file=/home/seth/.kde/socket-Seth-PC/kdeinit4__0
QSocketNotifier: Invalid socket 11 and type 'Read', disabling...

So I kept trying to find the source of the error in my code, when I could not find any errors I investigated further. I tried using the plasmaengineexplorer and I noticed that it also crashed. It seems to me there is some bug in the nowplaying data engine. What do I do from here?

Code: Select all
plasmaengineexplorer(6261)/plasma Mpris::stateChanged: "org.mpris.amarok" state: 0
plasmaengineexplorer(6261)/plasma NowPlayingEngine::addPlayer: Adding player "org.mpris.amarok"
plasmaengineexplorer(6261)/plasma PlayerContainer::service: Creating controller
plasmaengineexplorer(6261)/plasma PlayerControl::PlayerControl: Created a player control for "org.mpris.amarok"
plasmaengineexplorer(6261)/kdecore (KConfigSkeleton) KCoreConfigSkeleton::writeConfig:
KCrash: Application 'plasmaengineexplorer' crashing...
sock_file=/home/seth/.kde/socket-Seth-PC/kdeinit4__0
QSocketNotifier: Invalid socket 11 and type 'Read', disabling...

Steps to reproduce plasmaengineexplorer crash:
1. Have a supported media player open.
2. Run plasmaengineexplorer.
3. Select the nowplaying engine.
4. Right click your media players datasource, select "Get associated service".
5. Close the dialog that opened and repeat step 4.

P.S: I'm really new to this stuff and I really have no idea if this even is the right place to post this. Feel free to ask me for more information or anything.
