Windows Phonon Backends

Fri Mar 05, 2010 3:16 pm
Hi,

I've been busy with mingw-w64 on windows and came across the Qt example qmusicplayer. I have built Qt 4.6.x with mingw-w64 including the phonon DS9 backend, which originally came from here someplace (KDE.org).

Some questions:
- is it the qmusicplayer app or the phonon DS9 backend that is so buggy and crashes fast?
- Are there any plans to incorporate a Windows Media Foundation backend? All recent versions of Windows feature this, and it includes more standard codecs than standard DShow. DShow is getting pretty old, and WMF is the new thing. Will there be a backend for this or not?

Thanks!

The QMusicPlayer application is not likely to be buggy, it will the the DS9 backend. I do not know if Qt Development Frameworks plans to write a WMF backend.
