VERY NEWBIE needs a bit of advice

Wed Sep 15, 2010 8:15 am
I do not know if this is the correct place to ask...

I intended to write a small application, written in Perl/Tk,
so that in one of its frames it would embed a KDE app (Kword).

I know it is possible to embed X windows applications, as long as you're able to tell them the xid where to go, e.g.
xterm -into <ID>
mplayer -wid <ID>
dillo -x <ID>
...

do you know if I can in some way tell Kword to gently embed itself in my frame in some way?

... as an alternative, even non-KDE, what I need is any RTF-enabled word processor. Unfortunately I was unable up to now to "convince" abiword or openoffice!

thanks for any help...

This doesn't appear to be possible. If your application was using KDE technology such as KApplication then fully native integration would be relatively easy and seamless.
