kdelib build fails: libplasma error

Wed Mar 09, 2011 8:20 pm
On a fresh Arch install, I'm trying to build KDE from the 4.6.1 src snapshots on the MIT mirror.
When "make"ing kdelibs, I get the following error at 90%:

collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[2]: *** [lib/libplasma.so.3.0.0] Error 1
make[1]: *** [plasma/CMakeFiles/plasma.dir/all] Error 2
make: *** [all] Error 2

pacman -S libplasma.so.3.0.0 returns nothing, pacman -Ss libplasma doesn't return anything either.
I didn't see a libplasma on the mirror and a google reveals almost nothing.

Any help would be appreciated.

**Please excuse the formatting, I'm on lynx.

Please post more from the output, there should be an error being mentioned a few lines before.

Nice call, I thought it might've been irrelevant, I guess not.

Linking CXX shared library ../lib/libplasma.so
/usr/bin/ld: skipping incompatible /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu/4.5.2/./../../../lib/libGl.so when searching for -lGL
/usr/bin/ld: skipping incompatible /ust/lib/gcc/x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu/4.5.2/../../../libGl.so when searching for -lGL

The above is followed by the "collect2:" from my previous post.

In /lib there is not a libplasma.so.3.0.0 or any version.

@silvereagle:

Maybe this will help you:
Code: Select all
[musikolo@MyPC ~]$ ls -l /usr/lib/libplasma.so.3.0.0
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 3273952 Mar  7 14:57 /usr/lib/libplasma.so.3.0.0
[musikolo@MyPC ~]$ pacman -Qo /usr/lib/libplasma.so.3.0.0
/usr/lib/libplasma.so.3.0.0 is owned by kdelibs 4.6.1-2
[musikolo@MyPC ~]$

Best regards! ;)

Musikolo,
/usr/lib/libplasma.so.3.0.0 doesn't exist.

Sorry silvereagle if it doesn't exist in your PC, but it does in mine, as you can see in my previous post. I'm telling you the size, the installation date and even the package that contains the file, what else do you need to change your mind?

Best regards!

I realize it exists on *your* computer, but it doesn't exist on mine. And according to pacman -Ss libplasma doesn't exist in repos either.
Do you have any suggestions on obtaining it?

Hi silvereagle,

This is what I have:
Code: Select all
[musikolo@MyPC ~]$ pacman -Q kdelibs
kdelibs 4.6.1-2
[musikolo@MyPC ~]$ pacman -Ql kdelibs | grep libplasma
kdelibs /usr/lib/libplasma.so
kdelibs /usr/lib/libplasma.so.3
kdelibs /usr/lib/libplasma.so.3.0.0

...and what you should have too once you issue the next command:
Code: Select all
[musikolo@MyPC ~]$ sudo pacman -Sy kdelibs

I hope it helps! ;-)

Musikolo,

Thanks for the help, but the machine I'm trying to build KDE on can't get on-line. I can't just "pacman -S kdelibs" into the picture. I'm sorry that wasn't clear in my earlier posts.

@silvereagle: Your issue, as stated in a earlier post is with a incompatible libGL. Please rebuild Mesa.
