It appears that none of the recent backends in phonon is able to record raw audio data into a file or buffer.
Am I right that someone is already working on it?
Else I'd have some spare time and could look into it.

The Phonon developers would likely be very happy to hear from you. Whilst I am not aware of Phonon's current status in regard to this, I suggest getting in contacting with Harald Sitter (apachelogger on Freenode - email sitter@kde.org)
