Kickstarter reward artists wanted!

Mon Jan 25, 2016 9:06 am
For the 2016 Kickstarter we're concentrating on immaterial rewards. So we're looking for artists who are willing to take individual commissions from high-tier backers (we won't expect anyone to make hundreds of separate artworks!). Please reply here and/or send mail to irina@krita.org, specifying:

- What you are willing to do (character sketch, portrait, whatever).
- How many items you can handle -- a number between 1 and 20 seems realistic.
- How much it will cost. Yes, we will pay you; if you want to contribute to Krita you can always pledge or donate the money, but we don't expect you to work for free.
- How much time you think it will take to complete, so we can give an ETA.

The kickstarter will be in May again, so if I have your replies by the beginning of April we can include you in the planning.

Oh, and of course all art should be done with Krita!

Thanks Sylvia! I have a bunch of replies from different people, and will reply to all once I get the current Kickstarter rewards out of the way (this week, I expect).

For answers to this post, yes; I'm back from holiday in a few days so can use most of March to process what I've got. If I get any offers after that, it will be too awkward to fit them in.

Hey Irina.

I hope you are well.
Oh..the Kickstarter is already online :) \o/. I guess the artist rewards were too expensive?
I would love to be part of the art book. How do you choose the artists?

Also send you an email :).
Thanks,
Sylvia

Hi Silvia!

Well -- we can only start commissioning art if the Kickstarter is funded! So, once that has happened, we'll set a budget and approach artists. There are two parts to it: we want to commission art for things like the coloring training pack, the inspiration desk flip-thingy, and we want to publish an art book that's at the same time promotion for Krita and for artists. That book should include the commissioned art, but everyone is going to be invited to send in a bio, a promo text and some artwork for it.

To get on the list of candidates for commissioning art, contact irina@krita.org!

You are in fact already on that list! But as Boudewijn said, we will only need art when the kickstarter is funded, so it's a waste of time and energy to make arrangements now. In two weeks we'll know more...

Wow, very nice. You are really commissioning the artists. I should have read the whole Kickstarter text earlier, sorry.
Of course, don't waste any time and energy before the Kickstarter gets funded. Thanks for explaining the process and for adding my art to the list.
I love, love, love Krita and I will let everybody know about your campaign. Fingers crossed.

I may be late for this, but I'd love to pitch in to help Krita. I paint mostly in Krita now.

We've just selected the artists for the rewards, but there's an art book coming where everybody can pitch in! Watch krita.org for the call.
