Internationalization packages

Mon Apr 18, 2016 8:48 am
Hi everyone,

First of all, I'd like to thank the team for their great work : I can now have a full Plasma 5.6 experience with no effort !

I was wondering if there was any plan to include language packs in the Neon repository, to replace the distro-provided kde-l10n-* pacakges : if KDE was installed with a language pack, installing Neon's plasma desktop will result in a partially translated interface, which may be confusing.

If this is not planned, I will just switch my system locale to English to have a more coherent experience, that's not an issue

The tarballs of Frameworks and Plasma include all the languages, and so usually the packages. If you install only Plasma, you should have all the translated strings for the language that you choose.
The packages kde-l10n-xx contain the translations of programs part of KDE Applications. There is work in progress to include the translations in the tarballs, as it happens with Frameworks and Plasma, but not so far yet.
