So I have successfully been using KDE Neon 4.5 and 4.6 for the last few months. I have a simplified BIOS (SeaBIOS) working and I can do almost anything on my Chromebook. A few issues I have are as follows:
1. No Sound. I think it is an issue with an integrated HDMI soundcard. I'm not sure because I haven't found any information on the web about it yet. 2. I cannot upgrade from the 4.4.0-22 Linux kernel release. If I do, I cannot use KDE at all. It won't even load into the Neon DE. Those are the 2 main issues I'm having. Could someone maybe point me in the right direction of where to solve these issues? My priority is #2 since it inhibits me from upgrading to the new features of KDE. I'm not sure what information the community needs to help me, but please let me know. Thank you all! |

Hi,
first question as with all hardware related stuff: relevant output of lspci -k The kernel question, however, bugs me. As I don't know Neon and its underlying structure I am not much help on that front...

your Kernel "should" update automatically (and everything else that is upgradeable) if you run
at present I am on kernel 4.4.0-31-generic check
it may not be set to the correct channel and profile in "system settings>Multimedia" I fined "pavucontrol" (pulse audio volume control)easier to use myself ,,,,,,,,,,,,

I will try this. I will have to post my output when I get home, but when I used Ubuntu, I know that with the latest kernel nothing worked, which tells me something is being left out of the kernel image that was previously included. Now with KDE neon, I'm having the same issue and have to stay on -22 kernel or the GUI won't even load. But I will post the output for my hardware when I get home today. |

Pavucontrol didn't change anything. I believe there is something wrong with the driver. I fear that there won't be any way to fix this.

Time to google
Subsystem: Intel Corporation Atom Processor Z36xxx/Z37xxx Series High Definition Audio Controller Kernel driver in use: snd_hda_intel Kernel modules: snd_hda_intel Unfortunately I haven't got time to do it myself. Perhaps the Arch Wiki has something on it as well.
