Hi,
I am not able to install Digikam 5.x on KDE Neon. Have anyone else experienced the same problem? There are some dependency problem, but it might be that I just have to reinstall Neon. Can anyone confirm that there should be no issues with installing it before I wipe my drive and install a fresh version? Thanks dajomu |

What problem exactly you have? Do you tried solving the dependencies with apt -f install?

Not sure about Neon, but I know that Sid offered to remove digikam this morning so I'd imagine there's some development going on. Might be best to wait a day or two.

Paste the log when you try to solve the dependencies. I don't think de problem is Neon really.

I ended up replacing Neon with ubuntu since I need Digikam. I'll try Neon later on.

I also just switched to KDE NEON (installed NEON REPO in a preexisting 16.04 Kubuntu Installation). And am similarly unable to install digikam5:
I'll be sticking with NEON, but I wonder if OP solved the problem by switching back to Kubuntu? |

Please don't ask for help here then. This isn't supported:

Right. Okay. First of all, that's https://neon.kde.org/faq and not . Second, I didn't ask for help. I wondered if the original OP solved his problem by reinstalling Kubuntu. Third, and last I checked, this forum isn't called kde.neon.org or neon.kde.org but kde.org, and if I had asked for support it would be because I'm using KDE. And fourth, there's nothing stipulating that KDE users only get to ask for help when using a pre-approved version of KDE.

Hi
I tried installing a new version of Neon bit it still did not work. Then I installed Kubuntu and used the backport ppa, but my system became unstable. I have now installed Linuc Mint KDE beta, and thing seem to be working fine. It is not as fast as Neon though. As soon as digikam works on Neon I will reinstall it. Dajomu |

I am pretty sure you'll need to drop the pin we have put into kipi /etc/apt/preferences.d/99-neon-kipi to get it to upgrade.
Annoyed with bbcode since 1999.

Wondering if NEON devs will eventually upgrade NEON to kipi-plugins5 (and related dependencies)? -- or whether that's not in their checklist?
It also occurred to me that digikam5 (along with other similar dependency-fussy apps like calibre) really ought to consider something like snappy or flatpak. Pick one. I don't care. I've got both packagers installed -- Betamax & VHS. I'm ready to go. |
