Just curious, has anyone tried or installed it? I installed the Neon repos in my Kubuntu install, took less time than re-customizing and re-installing a variety of apps. So far everything is working great, but if I have to re-install, I'll be trying Maui.
And if you've tried it, does Netrunner add anything to KDE Neon beyond a more generous selection of pre-installed apps? |

I have installed Maui and, quite frankly, I'm very impressed. ![]() ![]() A difference that may not be application related, and possibly very specific to my T460s, is that Neon always runs a little hotter (anywhere from +2 C to +4 C degrees) than either Kubuntu (without Neon) or Maui (which slightly lags Neon). I've never been able to completely isolate the cause, but as I'm frequently running on battery, a little temperature difference can have a big effect. Oh yes, with regard to the Maui slightly lagging Neon, Plasma 5.7.4 was delayed about 4-5 days in Maui. A trivial difference.

Thanks for that geoffreyg. Didn't know Maui uses Mint Update Manager. That's cool. Sounds like Maui is a definite install if anything goes wrong with my current setup.
And now I've got to start paying attention to my system temperature. One more thing to obsess over.... |

I just have installed the Mint Update Manager from Maui repo to Neon developers unstable (which itself was installed over Kubuntu). It works perfectly.

Could you pretend your dealing with a Linux newb and explain which repo you used and what else was necessary? When searching for the repos all I'm finding is stuff for the other Maui (Arch-based) distro. Thanks. |

The repo is:
'deb http://packages.mauilinux.org xenial main' Add it, and then just install 'mintupdate' package. Run Mint Update Manager once, and it will add its icon to the panel. |

Cool, thanks. Discover was one reason I was considering distro-hopping again so this is pretty sweet. For anyone else that stumbles upon this I wasn't able to add the repo or install mintupdate via Discover.
The old-fashioned way, for newbs like me:
And now I found the Maui repo info too, in case anyone else is looking: https://forums.mauilinux.org/showthread ... positories |
