Folder View Settings Don't Stick

Thu Oct 06, 2016 2:13 pm
I have put the current user edition on a friend's laptop and configured everything the way it is on my PC and laptop.

However, for some reason if I select 'Folder View' instead of 'Desktop' in desktop configuration, the settings are lost on logout or reboot.

I have tried using the default theme, but the problem is still there. For the life of me I can't figure out why this is happening, or what I have configured differently. Does anyone have any suggestions, apart from re-installing the distro?

Backed up my installation then installed 5.7.3 with the updates box unticked.

The same problem occurred. It would seem this laptop, Toshiba C50D-C, doesn't seem to support whatever makes this function work.

Now back on 5.8.0 with no fix.

Seems to be fixed in today's 5.8.1 release:
Fix switching between desktop and folderview. Commit.

5.8.1? Doesn't appear for User Edition in Synaptic. Current ISO release is 4th October.
