Noob

Okay I am extremely new to Linux and I thought of starting with KDE Neon 5.8.2. I installed it today on my desktop dual booted with windows 10 and the resolution is stuck at 1024x768. My monitor's native resolution is 1920x1080 but I can't see such an option in the Display and Monitor tab in settings. My graphics card is NVIDIA GT-630. Please help. Any help is appreciated.

The open source driver nouveau should be more than capable of displaying 1920x1080, too. Have a look at
Code: Select all
lspci -k
to see which driver you currently use.

I had the latest nvidia drivers installed. But even in the Nvidia Control Panel 1920x1080 is not available.
I reinstalled the drivers according to your given post.
Yet no luck.

Update: I think my monitor has a native resolution 1024x768(Idk how as at that resolution anything doesn't fit on the screen)

So do I need to add a custom resolution? If yes then how?

Your monitor is not recognized. I assume you have a DVI to VGA adapter and monitor VGA cables to conect, or DVI to HDMI. Your DVI to XXXX adapter is not properly selected.
