Can't add user with systemsettings

Tue Dec 27, 2016 5:44 pm
I have a quite strange behavior here. I installed neon on my desktop. Most things worked fine. But I'm not able to manage the users with systemsettings. When I try to add a user nothing happens. all fields get greyed out and that's it.

When I add a user with kuser instead, everthing works fine. But then, I can't see the new added user in the admin users systemsettings. I see all users in the systemsettings of the just added user (without sudo rights) and I see all users if I start systemsettings with kdesudo. Anyone an idea?

Are you on the Neon user edition?

Sounds like it could be this bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=373276

If so, then it should be resolved when Plasma 5.8.5 packages are available.

Thanx for the quick reply, I'm on the LTS User Edition.
So, yes it seems like at least the first part of my described scenario has to do with that bug.

Anyway it's strange, that I can't see the newly added user (with kuser) in systemsettings. But well ...

OS
Install Synaptic manger first via Discover.
Then install Kuser. You can add/delete user from there, and give it any kind of permission. ;)

Thanx, but I don't need Synaptic for kuser, which i have already in use, as I have written in both of my posts ;)

Ok, Updating to 5.8.5 fixed the problem. Why I can't see the other user in systemsettings isn't that important. I set this issue to solved...

AFAIK, kuser is about to be obsoleted anyway, as it's source has not been updated for years.

User systemsetting is really bugged.
I have encrypted home directory. When i change user password by systemsetting, password to ecrypted folder didnt change, so i cant login to system without changing password with "ecryptfs-rewrap-passphrase ~/.ecryptfs/wrapped-passphrase".

Now i cant create new user (KDE 5.8.7) like Popanz describe.
I is any possibility to create new user without installing kuser? It takes about 130 Mb.

Neon LTS 5.8
