Hello,
I'm running the latest dev unstable version and when I pick wayland session during login, I just get a momentary blank screen and it returns to sddm login screen. dmesg shows a crash/segfault in libQtCore and a few other places (will post a stacktrace shortly) and some calls into intel i915_bpo (backported) driver apparently. I have a skylake i5-6500 cpu with only using the igpu and a while back neon seemed to have uninstalled intel driver in favour of modesetting using some arbiter and intel-native-modesetting packages for Xorg - wondering if this is related to my problem. Anyone else having this issue or are you able to currently use wayland session (at least log in to desktop) ? Thanks!

I don't seem to be getting the stacktrace in dmesg at the moment just a few lines mentioning segault, like this:

FYI, I also just now downloaded and booted live session of the Neon Plasma Wayland ISO daily (dev unstable) image, by default it auto logs into X session and logout and attempt to log back in with wayland session selected and I get the same errors/issue.

Thanks for testing Wayland on Dev Unstable. The issue should be solved with https://phabricator.kde.org/R108:b868df ... fb8aa99baa
Atleast I had the same problem in the last weeks and it now works again. Should hit the Neon repos in a few hours. |

So a few days later and looks like that hurdle is overcome (resolved) and able to use (at least log in now) wayland desktop
Few minutes of usage (few apps like FF browser, konsole etc) seems to be stable. Will now continue to log in to wayland by default!BTW, no longer using Intel iGPU, in the past few days got a 4k (LG 27UD68) monitor and an AMD RX 460 GPU. Had to install the ubuntu hardware enablement kernel (HWE edge package) and also the Xorg Edgers PPA to get proper built-in "amdgpu" driver support but things are quite good now.

Nice! I've a RX470 myself in use with my Neon. Works great (aswell with kernel 4.8 and the ppa you mentioned)!
