KDE Connect never seems to work for me. Bluetooth works fine. But in NEON, or OpenSUSE (TW or Leap) my phone LG G4 is never seen. The App never sees my computer. I have tried to mess with the firewall, but I get nowhere. I get only the KDE Connect screen that tells me to download the app, etc. Any thoughts? Thank you.

Hey folks, I guess KDE Connect is dead as an app. With 65 looks and counting, and no one can give me help in making KDE Connect work, I guess I will stick to bluetooth only. Does anyone have it working in the KDE world? Thanks everyone!

Hi Lou,
For me, installing kde connect and getting it working has always been a very simple procedure. I install the app on my smartphone, fire it up, answer yes on the pairing request and i´m done. Wish I could be more helpful, sorry. Regards |

Hi louparker,
Just to make sure, because you mentioned BL... do you try to connect via Bluetooth? will; |

mine connects successfully via wifi without issue. sometimes drops and things (previously there were issues with incompatible editions between app and computer, but this has been resolved after it is 1.0) but is otherwise extremely high quality.

Thank all for your responses. Yes, previous iterations of Leap, TW or even kubuntu KDE Connect worked. However, on clean installs of OSs and even a re-install of KDE Connect on my G4 phone, I get no connection. THe phone and the computer no matter what brand of KDE I use, the bluetooth (Bluedevil5) works fine. My wife just got a new phone so I will try on hers just for the heck of it. My Fitbit by the way works fine on the bluetooth. Obviously, I am doing something wrong, I just don't know what it is. Thanks, All!

So that's what I guessed... I think KDE Connect is not connecting via Bluetooth. At least I never tried or read about it.
You just need to be in same WiFi! Then they your devices should find and connect easily. will; |

kdeconnect uses wifi, and not bluetooth at all. I haven't had issues with both my G4 or V10 using recent Kubuntu releases or Neon User Ed.
if the desktop client is too old in relation to the phone app, there can be problems, but I don't think this is a problem with the latest distro releases.

I use KDE Connect over wifi with much satisfaction. As mentioned above, the connection drops sometimes, I think when the phone goes to sleep, but I have to test that. SMS reply is not 100% or I did not pay attention.
Otherwise a very nice work! Gratulations to the creators!
