And here, You can see it for Yourself:
$ lsb_release -sd Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS ### 1) I wonder, if the sources.list and its priorities are still correct…? 2) How could I check this? Greetings |

I have the same issue and even questioned the sources.list in a recent thread I made. https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=309&t=138867
lsb_release -sd Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS inxi -F Host: xxxxxxxx Kernel: 4.4.0-63-generic x86_64 (64 bit) Desktop: KDE Plasma 5.9.1 Distro: Ubuntu 16.04 xenial Also, when I update via cli, I get all kinds of errors about particular lines and duplicates. Even though I removed all duplicates. This did not start occurring until 2 days ago. |

1)
This stated certainly after the upgrade to KDE Neon 5.9. 2) This afternoon, one of the packages was 'base-files'. a) $ cat /etc/os-release NAME="Ubuntu" VERSION="16.04.2 LTS (Xenial Xerus)" ID=ubuntu ID_LIKE=debian PRETTY_NAME="Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS" VERSION_ID="16.04" HOME_URL="http://www.ubuntu.com/" SUPPORT_URL="http://help.ubuntu.com/" BUG_REPORT_URL="http://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/" VERSION_CODENAME=xenial UBUNTU_CODENAME=xenial b) $ dpkg -S /etc/os-release base-files: /etc/os-release Another related issue: GUI "Info Center" shows: Ubuntu 5.9 Greetings |

Well, I have to say I'm rather irritated and annoyed that my OS now says Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS everywhere I look. Even in the menu where you can "search".
inxi -F use to report KDE Neon and now it says this: Desktop: KDE Plasma 5.9.1 Distro: Ubuntu 16.04 xenial. Just even seeing the word Ubuntu is maddening to me. Ubuntu lost me when they adopted Unity and Canonical started moving in another direction. I moved to Mint, and have used/tried everything in between... Debian, Arch, Suse, Gentoo.... etc. Anyways, I Love KDE Neon, and I want it to indicate Neon. My sources.list has changed, and by the looks of it, one of the updates we've received borked something. Devs, can you fix this issue please? ![]() |

ahhh.....that explains why screenfetch kept reporting ubuntu even though I downloaded the lastest screenfetch-dev which supports Neon

Just now, I updated 325 packages (that's the difference from yesterday to now).
But the problem is still there after reboot. Let's wait and see what comes next. Greetings |

Discover gives now a very, very short time message about broken appstream configuration, too.
That's a nice addition to have. Maybe, two negatives cancel each other out into something positive… That was a little bit of sarcasm. But, of course, I wish the best to all people. Just opening the pressure valve. Greetings |

To avoid such unpleasant issues just create file with any name in directory '/etc/apt/preferences.d' with such content:
Package: base-files Pin: release o=Ubuntu Pin-Priority: -10 It must prevent updating base-files from Ubuntu repos. |
