Hello, I hesitate between the installation of kde neon lts and the user version. To make my choice I would like to have a little more information on the differences between kde plasma lts and the current version:
The non-lts kde version receives it the same bug fixes as the LTS version?
Is the current version of plasma kde going to have big major changes over time compromising its stability, or is it better that I install the lts version?
Having the latest version of kde looks good but my computer is also a working tool, so I hesitate ...

I am not a Neon user, I could not get it to install properly, but I am running the latest version of Plasma and can say that with each new version I have seen improvements in stability and functionality. I am using Plasma 5.9.3 and I can say it has addressed several issues that I have had with previous versions. So if you want the best working kde/plasma, the newest versions have had the latest fixes and revisions. I would recommend using the newest versions. Having a stable and reliable version with reasonable update intervals can be difficult with most of the binary distributions, so there is always that gamble. Neon, in a way, gives this to most users. If you need your computer to be completely stable for work (read: income tool), then I'm not sure I'd use Neon at all as parts of the whole OS desktop is updated weekly which potentially introduces new bugs or reintroduces old bugs. While the team is quick to fix basic issues and I commend them for it, there's some ongoing stability concerns that would prevent me from recommending it for a daily work station.

While the LTS edition doesn't update Plasma to help maintain stability and the underlying Ubuntu base is stable, the KDE apps are updated regularly which may introduce instability in Neon. For that reason, Neon is not my recommendation for a work horse.

My computer is up 24/7 crunching data and available whenever I want to use it. And although Neon has had some issues for me, I like the vanilla installation that lets me just install my own programs and use it the way I want. I've gone back to LTS for more stability. It still gets all the security updates and bug fixes, but doesn't update Plasma. I almost went to Kubuntu when I was having what appears to be a memory leak when running Boinc on Neon. Having Boinc open on the desktop would let Plasmashell gobble up CPU and RAM like PacMan to the point where I was rebooting daily to keep it at bay. Closing the Boinc manager fixed the issue and I don't have a runaway Plasmashell anymore. But I can't keep Boinc open which is what I prefer. Eventually they'll get the Plasmashell bug fixed and I can run my computer the way I like. But for now I have to make an adjustment.
