Very High ISO Download Failure Ratio

Wed Apr 19, 2017 11:32 am
Hi guys,

I'm currently on Neon User (not the LTS edition) and the internet works decently.
Code: Select all
ping -c 5 google.com
PING google.com (216.58.214.206) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from bud02s23-in-f14.1e100.net (216.58.214.206): icmp_seq=1 ttl=58 time=11.9 ms
64 bytes from bud02s23-in-f14.1e100.net (216.58.214.206): icmp_seq=2 ttl=58 time=15.9 ms
64 bytes from bud02s23-in-f14.1e100.net (216.58.214.206): icmp_seq=3 ttl=58 time=12.5 ms
64 bytes from bud02s23-in-f14.1e100.net (216.58.214.206): icmp_seq=4 ttl=58 time=10.9 ms
64 bytes from bud02s23-in-f14.1e100.net (216.58.214.206): icmp_seq=5 ttl=58 time=11.4 ms

--- google.com ping statistics ---
5 packets transmitted, 5 received, 0% packet loss, time 4007ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 10.933/12.580/15.902/1.751 ms

BUT I've got an estimated ISO download failure of about 75%. Could anybody help, please? WAN > Router > Ethernet. The connection just times-out for a split second and a massage pops up briefly.

Oh, any ISO.

Code: Select all
sudo lshw -C network
  *-network

       width: 32 bits
       clock: 33MHz
       capabilities: pm msi bus_master cap_list ethernet physical tp 10bt 10bt-fd 100bt 100bt-fd 1000bt-fd autonegotiation

       resources: irq:28 memory:fe7c0000-fe7dffff memory:fe7f9000-fe7f9fff ioport:dc00(size=32)

Bad router or something else?

While waiting for an answer I tried another download and it succeeded. The issue is not solved though.

Are you using a local mirror when downloading or just clicking the "Download" button and letting the site chose a mirror for you? The traffic on a mirror will determine a lot of variables when downloading large files(ISO). I personally use uGet download manager because by default all downloads you can pause and resume even if you have a download failure you can retry it without losing data downloaded. Another feature is you can specify how many connections to a download and it actually decreases time and will use the maximum bandwidth you have for downloads.
KDE neon downloads list at the far right has a "Metadata" button and by clicking on it you will be able to select a mirror suggested for your location.

Thanks but I'm having problems with downloading any ISO, NOT just the Neon ISOs. I've got rid of the router. Just opened a new issue called "DSL-PPPoE?" Please have a look. Thank you again.
